Take it back, Pat…

Have you read the news today? No? Well hang on, you can see it here: TV host urges US to kill Chavez

Yeah, this oughtta sicken you as it does me. I don’t care how you feel about Hugo Chavez – what Pat Robertson said today is inexcusable. And this further reinforces my frustrations. This man is billed around the world as a major figure of “conservative Christian” ideology. This man is one of the reasons why standing up and claiming to the public that you’re a Christian can be so awkward. This man is one of the reasons why so many people still think Christianity and The Crusades go hand-in-hand.

Ugh.

One Response to Take it back, Pat…

  1. Brian says:

I was equally distressed by Robertson’s comments, though I’ve come to expect such drivel from that direction. In a society where the news media loves to manipulate and crop soundbytes to make better stories, Pat makes it all too easy.

I think it important that all Americans take fellows like Robertson and Jerry F. with a grain of a salt. It is one thing for a man to proclaim the gospel to the masses, but when a minister begins spewing interpreted opinion and pronouncing judgement without Biblical background, we end up with more of a Pope of the Christian Church than a minister to the Gospel.

Gotta run, I’ll probably say more later…
